Since Watkins Meegan’s founding, our leaders have recognized that creativity and innovation are key to firm’s success. We don’t stifle our professionals’ business imagination by limiting them to work within specific service or industry groups. Rather we encourage our team members to build their own path to success - whether this mean establishing a new affiliate company or building a new service group within the firm.

Take our recently established forensic accounting and litigation support team and its leader Mary Lou Gervie as an example. When Mary Lou joined Watkins Meegan, she specialized in taxes, having previously worked for the Internal Revenue Service and a small accounting firm. Her detailed knowledge of the tax code established her as an expert in the tax group and firm co-founder Dick Watkins encouraged her to use that expertise to develop something new for herself and the firm. 

With Mr. Watkins’ support, Mary Lou started looking for ways to contribute to the firm other than through her tax work. To get ideas, Mary Lou joined networking groups and professional organizations, like the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, and she volunteered on committees within the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The transition from tax advisor to forensic specialist did not happen overnight, but eventually Mary Lou realized the growth potential of working with lawyers whose clients needed tax, compliance and litigation services. From this, Mary Lou and Watkins Meegan built the growing forensic accounting and litigation support team.  

Deltek Alliance

Our partnership with Deltek software solutions is another example of Watkins Meegan’s innovative growth. While the firm had provided Deltek assistance and implementation for many years, Member Christine Williamson recognized an opportunity to build the firm’s business by partnering with Deltek.

Christine helped launch the partnership, through which Watkins Meegan has grown its Deltek services and established an affiliate company, W J Technologies (WiJiT). WiJiT is a certified reseller of Deltek solutions for government contractors and Christine currently serves as its Chief Operating Officer.
