Stephanie Kelly is a Director in Watkins Meegan and part of the firm's forensic accounting team. She specializes in valuation of closely held businesses and forensic accounting, and she is qualified as an expert witness. Stephanie works on behalf of clients involved in management conflicts, stockholder disputes, damage claims, divorces and bankruptcies.

 

Prior to joining Watkins Meegan, Stephanie held many high profile financial reporting positions. She was the Director of Financial Reporting for a Bethesda-based energy trading firm, a Vice President of Contract Finance for an investment bank and a Senior Vice President Controller and Treasurer for a hedge fund. In her prior roles, she managed the accounting and finance aspects of portfolios consisting of $2 billion of energy trading derivatives, $8 billion of whole loan mortgages and $1 billion of collateralized debt obligations (CDOs).

 

Stephanie is an instructor for CPE, Inc., a national continuing education organization for accountants.  She has taught many courses including Accounting for Derivatives, Fair Value Accounting and Accounting for Foreign Currency Translation. She also is a frequent speaker to other professional organizations on current accounting topics.

 

Education, Memberships, & Recognition

Stephanie is a graduate of the College of William & Mary where she earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a Concentration in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant, a Certified Valuation Analyst, and is Certified in Financial Forensics. She is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, the National Association of Certified Valuation Analysts, the CFA Institute, the CFA Society of Washington and the International Association for Asset Recovery. Stephanie also is a member of the Executive Board for Kent’s Foundation for Child’s Life and a frequent volunteer at The Children’s Inn at NIH.
